This hotel is an hotel in name only, sadly there are no longer any guest rooms. It was an hotel in the late 1800's and was rumoured to be a brothel, which must have worried its owners at the time, the Church of England. Built in 1859 and completely refurbished in the early 1900's, its decoration is outstanding.
The entrance porch is flanked by two large lamps, the porch columns and walls are covered in glazed tiles.
Inside, the huge saloon bar is dominated by a marble topped, semi-circular bar counter, with a carved mahogany base.

Above is a carousel like structure, where cherubs peer down at the customers. The rest of the bar is decorated with art nouveau glasswork, turned mahogany and ornate plasterwork.
There's a Thai restaurant upstairs. Real ale festivals are held here in February and October.
