Being sandwiched between a building site and a cement works, doesn't sound like a promising venue for a pub, so what brings customers here in droves?
Could it be the riverside setting, the excellent food or well kept Young's beers? The Ship London SW18
This simple waterman's pub was built in the early 19th. century, when its neighbours consisted mostly of docks and modest housing. There have been many alterations over the years, but the delightfully plain public bar gives a clue to its origins. The vast, conservatory at the rear has more of a bistro atmosphere.
From May to September, meals are offered from the barbeque. A marquee is available for functions.
Finding the Ship can be a bit if a challenge. From the roundabout on the south bank, head towards Wandsworth Bridge, just before the bridge, take the small turn on the left.
The Ship has it's own website www.theship.co.uk
