	Ye Olde White Bear has had a lot of care, as well as money, invested in it. Smart and well groomed, with attractive shuttered windows and extravagant window boxes and hanging baskets, it fits in well with its neighbours. There are two good size bars, both decorated to a high standard. © copyright pubs.com	Each has rich wood block flooring, recently sanded and waxed. Some fine pieces of furniture have been added, including an ornate Edwardian sideboard. There's plenty of dark wood panelling and intricate carving. Prints decorate the walls, together with an interesting collection of signed photos and letters from actors and writers. The general atmosphere is one of quality and comfort, a bit like a gentlemen's club. That said, there's nothing stuffy about it and the service is friendly and efficient. There's a good selection of food and a wide variety of real ales. On Monday nights there's Quiz Night.
