Lake District pub accommodation is a good alternative if you are touring or visiting out of season, when many of the holiday lets are unavailable. Having someone else cook breakfast and make up your room is more relaxing too.
The Lake District is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Britain and has more than 15 million visitors annually. Situated in the North West of England it covers more than 80 square miles, most of it part of the Lake District National Park. The county of Cumbria in which the Lake District falls is made up of the former counties of Cumberland, Westmorland and parts of Lancashire.
The stunning countryside has some of England highest peaks and largest lakes, but although mostly mountainous, there are many areas of gentle rolling hills and walking does not necessarily involve a mountain climb. There are some wonderful towns and villages to explore. Kendal in the south has some factory outlets and good shops; Ambleside has many good food and craft shops.
All over the Lakes there are some fantastic pubs too and we have listed a few below that offer accommodation. There’s a wide variation in comfort and prices which change by the season.
