Liverpool Pubs
Liverpudlians will soon tell you there's a lot more to Liverpool than being the birthplace of Beatles. For centuries this historic city on the River Mersey was one of the most important ports in Britain, sending and receiving goods from around the world, especially America. Human traffic passed through here too, many from Ireland seeking a better life in the New World. Ships from Liverpool were also involved in the slave trade and the International Slavery Museum is appropriately housed in Albert Dock.
Liverpool is recognised as being an important cultural city too and was European City of Culture in 2008. Our choice of great Liverpool pubs reflects the city's rich history, some of it faded but much of it resurgent. Some of Liverpool's city centre has been redeveloped, but thankfully many of its best pubs are still there and thriving. We hope you enjoy our selection and if we've missed a gem please let us know.
