This pub is deceptive in many ways. For a start it's much bigger than it looks, and it looks big. Inside there's a warren of rooms, both large and small. Just when you think you've seen it all, another one appears. Instead of being cavernous though, it has many small areas, which are unexpectedly cosy and discreet. There's lots of oak panelling, nice wooden floors and attractive fireplaces too.
At the rear, past the ample deck, is a huge garden. No, massive garden! This is a major draw for families who can let their little ones wander safely. On dry summer days there's a barbeque, for the other 350 days there's a good selection of fresh food, including steaks, burgers, chicken salads and fish and chips, from around £8 to £13 and a changing 'dailys' menu
