The long, sloping, picturesque high street of Burford is a mellow mix of historic sandstone buildings; shops, offices, guest houses and of course, the odd pub. The 'world famous' Cotswold Arms is near the bottom, drowned in a cascade of flowers and ivy. Inside the exposed stone, dark beams and traditional furnishings are in keeping with a country inn; in winter the open fires are a welcome sight.
The pub has a few surprises too and is home to the 'Burford Garden Model Railway' and has an aviary, a big hit with children, who are most welcome here. In summer the pub puts on child entertainment and provides activities to keep the little angels occupied, whilst Mum and Dad enjoy a meal. Adults get entertained too; on Mondays and Wednesdays with live music. This is a friendly place geared up for children and the odd coach party, so be warned when the tourist season is underway.
