Jackie and Nigel Andrews took over the Queen's Head in Downe just over a year ago and describe the pub as 'a work in progress.' Their hard work has paid off so far and they serve good locally sourced food and some well kept real ales. They've kept the pub's traditional atmosphere but added a few modern decorative touches. Apart from the comfortable main bar there's a couple of 'olde worlde' dining areas and a sunny courtyard garden at the back. Best of all they give a warm welcome to regulars and 'tourists' alike. Downe is of course linked with Charles Darwin who lived at Down House nearby and the main bar is named in his honour.
