The Bull Inn at Linton, just outside Maidstone, has stunning views across the Kent countryside; an extensive deck maximises the space. There's a large, pretty garden with its own view of the charming village church.
The pub itself is a former coaching inn and dates from the 17th century. It sits alongside similarly attractive buildings on the steep hill; it's hard to imagine how horse drawn carriages could have struggled up to the inn.
Inside, the pub has been opened up forming a large dining area with steps down to the older, more interesting bar. There are plenty of beams and original fireplaces to get a feel for the antiquity of the place.
The food is of a good standard with a choice of restaurant menu (main courses around £14 - £17) or bar menu of 'pub favourites' (c. £10). Sandwiches and lighter bites are also available.
