The Parrot in Forest Green is one of those pubs that has it all. It's a pleasant pub with low beams and open fireplaces, full of rustic charm. Despite its gastropub reputation it's still a pub where local farmers call in for a refreshing pint of cask ale, where walkers stop to refuel and families come for Sunday lunch.
Much of the food is from the pub's own farm. It was started by Charles Gotto who sold up his string of South London pubs which had built up an amazing reputation, even runner-up for the BBC Radio 4's Food Programme awards. He recreated the same magic here at the Parrot. If you're impressed by the food there's a farm shop on the premises.
