The Running Horses in Mickleham is where a good village pub should be, opposite the church and next to the post office. Built in the 17th century, it stands on the Old London Road and was a coaching inn and post house. A photograph from 1904 shows a coach entrance on the left hand side which is now part of the inn. It continues today as a family run inn offering quality food, a superior choice of wines (16 by the glass) and luxury accommodation. The decor is simple and unfussy, bench seating, a few tables and chairs and the prime position by the lovely open fire.
