Left: A beautiful old coaching inn set in a picturesque Suffolk village. The Westleton Crown offers comfortable contemporary accommodation, traditional and welcoming bars, delicious locally sourced food and fine local ales.

Right: The lavishly appointed Fox & Anchor is a heritage pub in Smithfield. The superbly decorated rooms offer every comfort. On the doorstep is one of the City of London's oldest markets, surrounded by historic buildings, such as St. Paul's Cathedral, The Old Bailey and St. Bartholemew's Hospital. It is close to the Barbican, which boasts theatres, cinemas and concert halls.

The renovated Red Lion is in the picturesque village of Lacock, Wiltshire. It is a gorgeous Georgian building with 10 pretty, well appointed bedrooms. Lacock has featured in many period dramas including the BBC's ‘Cranford’. Lacock Abbey is close by; it was the home of pioneer photographer Fox Talbot and has the country's earliest surviving country house brewery. Chippenham and the City of Bath are a short car ride away.

Right: Possibly the most famous coaching inn in England, the George of Stamford has connections back to the Knights of St. John. Updated for the modern traveller but retaining many of its historical features, this inn oozes character.

Left The Pheasant, Higher Barwardsley, Cheshire, has one of the most spectacular views in the whole of England; an uninterrupted vista across the Cheshire Plain to the mountains of North Wales.
