Recently acquired by brewers Samuel Smith, this has to be one of the 'gem' pubs of London.
Named after Queen Victoria's fourth daughter, it was built in 1872, but refurbished in 1891, by architect Arthur Chitty.
He employed the finest craftsmen of the day; tiles by Simpson & Sons; glasswork by Morris & Son and joinery thought to be by Lascelles, all well known for pub interiors. This huge pub is a testiment to these Victorian craftsmen.

Every wall is covered in the finest cut and gilt mirrors, beautifully decorated tiles, richly ornate plasterwork and quality joinery. Even the toilets are a work of art. Apart from the removal of some partitions the Princess is pretty well intact. Unbelievably there were plans to pull this pub down, but fortunately it now has Grade II listing.
