This elegant Georgian pub is situated in the perimeter wall of Hampton Court Palace, and backs onto the maze, next to Lions Gate. Opposite, is Bushy Park, famous for its fountain and deer.
This classic building has symmetrical bay windows and a decorated portico.
Food is important here and the pub has expanded into adjacent buildings to provide extra room for diners.
Some less than sympathetic 'improvement' has led to an incongruous mix of Georgian, Victorian and 'rustic kitchen'.

That said, the central bars are full of character, with a wealth of warm wooden panelling and a pretty mosaic floor. Stained glass coats of arms adorn one bar counter.
This is a pleasant pub with good beer, nice food and an excellent location. Just the place to rest after a hard days exploration at the Palace.
