Parts of the Guinea date back to the 17th century and a pub has stood on this site since the early 1400’s.
The area was developed from the Berkeley Estate in the 1720’s. The pubs regular customers would have been servants and stable-hands.
Bruton Place was formerly North Bruton Mews and provided stabling to the large houses nearby.
Todays customers are mainly office workers, who pack this popular pub.
The L-shaped bar is simply furnished and has a friendly public bar atmosphere. The Young’s beer is very good, as is the bar food.

The steak and kidney pies (around £5), have won the Steak & Kidney Pie Championship of Britain for the third time.
There are also excellent sandwiches with interesting fillings.
There is an expensive high class restaurant at the back of the pub which offers a superior menu, including Scottish Smoked Salmon and prime Aberdeen Angus steaks. Princess Margaret, Elizabeth Taylor, Silvester Stallone and Frank Sinatra are just some of the celebrities who have eaten here.
