Thought to date from the early 17th century, this former coaching inn stands on what was once a busy coaching route to the West Country.
The inn was built within the Syon Park estate and was owned by the Percy family, (Dukes of Northumberland) who still live in magnificent Syon House.
The Percy's sold the pub to Young's Brewery in the early 19th century.
It's an imposing building, three storeys, square and solid. Approached from the car park side, the ivy clad facade has an attractive portico.
There are three main bar areas, one of which is given over to diners. The big draw is the Kwan Thai restaurant food with main courses at around £5 - £6.
However drinkers are not neglected and there is ample room in the other bars. These are comfortably furnished with wooden floors, half timber clad walls and some etched and cut glass windows. One has a cast fireplace. The overall effect is a warm and welcoming traditional pub.
