Hidden in a back street behind Liberty, the Clachan is a nice Victorian pub which has managed to keep some of its original fittings, including some rich wood carving and structural ironwork. Look for the pretty tiling in the entrances. There's a cosy raised seating area at the back of the bar which was probably once the landlords parlour.
The smart renovated exterior tells us it was built in 1898, and the turret and dome are typical of the period.

The Clachan, formerly known as the Bricklayers, was once owned by Liberty, who had plans to turn it into a warehouse. Thankfully it was sold off instead.
The Clachan has a reputation for a good and varied selection of real ales.
Shoppers will find this pub a welcome refuge from the crush of Oxford and Regent Streets. Kingly Street runs parallel with Regent St., to the side of Liberty, off Great Marlborough Street.
