With the home of the Roman Catholic Church of Britain so close, the choice of pub name isn't surprising, but it was formerly the Windsor Castle, home of the Queen, head of the Protestant Church of England.
Built in the mid 1800's, this large Victorian pub has some fine features. There's a huge amount of hardwood; including panelled walls, a beautiful fireplace and a mahoganny bar complete with ornate lampholders.

The front windows are cut glass. On the walls hang expensive mirrors and portraits of cardinals, who stare down at customers out for a quick lunch. The eating area at the rear has an odd counter divider, again in solid wood. The elegant decor is quite dark and restful, almost sombre.
There's a restaurant upstairs.
Francis St. is behind Westminster Cathedral not to be confused with the Abbey.
