A charming pub with one of the most fashionable addresses in town. Two centuries ago it was very different, this land was a putrefying swamp; the local stream a sewage outflow. If that wasn't bad enough, robbers frequented the area and often murdered their victims.
London was growing at a furious rate and by the 1820's even this undesirable bog was drained and built upon. Thomas Cubitt constructed some of the finest houses in London here, in what was to become Belgravia.

A pub is said to have stood here long before the 1800's development and a pretty vile place it would have been. By contrast the Antelope was built for the household staff who worked in the grand houses. It was originally divided into several bars, separating the servants into their respective positions within the household.
The Antelope is generally unspoilt and retains some original panelling and a rich oak floor. The upstairs bar is particularly recommended.
